A vibrant vinyl mural highlighting Epsom's green spaces

Seen by hundreds of commuters every day, Epsom station lies between London Waterloo and Guildford, and already has a recent history of artist-made murals inside and outside. My addition to the station introduces a bright, calming landscape, celebrating Epsom's quiet natural scenery with colours that mindfully compliment the station's strong green tiles.

During the ideation process for this project, I worked with fellow creatives Mia Sutherland and Runlong He, who illustrated two other concepts before the client's feedback to steer in this direction.

Using digitally-illustrated golden birch trees to frame the sliding doors into the station, I worked hard to make the most of the unique window space, allowing plenty of light to stream through the colourful design. As the inside of the station was clad in green tiles, I tried to avoid using green in my design — instead complimenting it by using yellow and blue colours to match with the station's exterior.

It makes me proud every time I visit Epsom, as I never would have imagined that I would have this much of a creative impact on the town I grew up in. Being able to bring calming natural visuals to such a chaotic and busy transport hub is one of the highlights of my time as a BA student.
